“Love is a battlefield”, “All you need is love”
Philosophers, musicians, and writers alike have discussed love and all the facets of love to death. But let me ask you, how many people do you know who are chasing the Holy Grail? Are you chasing the Holy Grail yourself?
What is the Holy Grail you ask? The Holy Grail is the perfect man or woman who never argues, disagrees, has problems, baggage, or has troubles to work through. The “next” person who you may be compared to or considering searching for.
For those of us who have experienced heartache, breakups, being rejected, and generally all the bad sides of love… (I know, I just counted everyone who has reached teenage years haven’t I?) it is easy to become pessimistic, and to hold a somewhat biased view of love.
Many relationships are not the right fit and these days, most couples do not last. You only need to look at the rates of divorce to ask many questions about our society, family education, and how many people just generally fail. Many of those people divorce for very good reason, and not everyone is meant to work out.
But let me ask all of you who are in a relationship right now, do you find yourself comparing your other half to the impossible Holy Grail? The perfect person who does not exist? Do you find yourself being compared in the same light?
Everyone who does this completely unrealistic comparison should literally slap themselves, because although it may be a rarity and you may not believe this or recognise it, but you could already have your Holy Grail in your life right now.
